About
Oana Godeanu Kenworthy's areas of scholarship include image studies (the study of national images in literature), Canadian and American culture, British culture and literature, transnationalism and globalization. She received her BA in English and French in 1998 from University of Craiova, Romania, her MA in 1999 in Canadian Studies and her Ph.D in 2006 from University of Bucharest, Romania. Her doctoral dissertation won the ICCS (International Council for Canadian Studies) Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2006. Her current research projects focus on the connection between republicanism, democracy and new definitions of Britishness in 19th century Canada. In 2012 Oana will be a Kluge fellow at the Library of Congress, in Washington DC where she will be working on her book manuscript.
